Okay. It's been more than a day. Forgive me. I'm busy in Paris!
For the last 2 weekends, we were invited to visit with friends in the French countryside. Yes, we have friends. A week ago, we were invited by a Welsh family we met at church. The Wiggins are a wonderful family. Sandy was very excited to get out of the city for a bit and see a smaller French village. Morgan was excited to play with their 3 girls. Nick was excited that they had a yard and he could run. He did many laps around the house and ended up with some grass stained knees. I was excited to be in the company of native English speaking people for a bit.
This past weekend was a birthday party for one of the girls in the church. It was another trip to the country. We had about a 10 minute walk from the train station to their house, which was very nice. The town is very quaint. It was great to be able to sit and relax amongst native English speakers. It's amazing how quickly your brain tires when it has to focus on every task because of a new language.
After the party, the kids and I headed back to the train station while Sandy stayed with some of the ladies for "Ladies' Night Out". They went to a tea room and had tea. Go figure.
We are so grateful for having found a church with such great and welcoming people. It has helped the transition immensely.
Sandy and the kids have been hitting the various parks that are all over Paris. They've gone to Luxembourg Gardens, which is a huge park with a lot of attractions. They've also gone to Tuleries Garden, right at the bottom of the Champs Elysees. On Friday the 8th, I was able to go with them to Jardin des Plantes. It is the main botanical garden in France. It has a zoo, paleontology museum, entomology museum, gallery de l'Evolution, and a mineral museum.
We just spent the time walking around and enjoying the beautiful weather and beautiful scenery.
There was also a carousel with some crazy animals that the kids got to ride.
Since I couldn't ride, I just rode Nick's scooter while holding onto the carousel.
The trees already have a ton of leaves!
I'm so behind reading your blog! I have to ask: How many times have you walked under the beautiful trees and sung "I Love Paris in the Springtime..."? If you haven't, you must! For me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done that yet. I'm still practicing for next month when we're staying in the Hotel Edelweiss in Geneva. The hills WILL be alive with the sound of music.
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures! I am so glad you are embracing all of the loveliness to be found in Paris!
ReplyDelete"April in Paris" is running through my mind...so wonderful!
